The successful applicant will possess a minimum of five years' direct experience as a Plant Maintenance/Engineering Manager within a dairy production setting, demonstrating extensive technical expertise in production machinery, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, refrigeration, electrical systems, and associated equipment. A proven history of leadership, program management, communication, and organizational capabilities is essential.
- Oversee and direct the maintenance team to ensure the upkeep of the facility, manage repairs, implement preventative maintenance, and adhere to stormwater management requirements; liaise with vendors, solicit RFPs, and manage work orders and financial allocations.
- Supervise all administrative and operational tasks related to plant maintenance, machinery repairs, and inspections.
- Establish and maintain a regular inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid processing machinery, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, and other relevant plant equipment.
- Maintain essential business records that support the administrative and operational requirements of the facility and plant.
- Keep updated blueprints of facilities, utility layouts, and technical manuals for machinery and refrigeration systems for operational reference.
- Lead, mentor, and develop staff in alignment with the organization's policies and relevant regulations.
- Oversee the design and manufacturing of equipment to meet production requirements, ensuring compliance with safety standards; including product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, and pneumatic lines.
- Document all changes to schematics and diagrams to ensure plant records are current.
- Ensure adherence to all components of the Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program.
- Responsible for delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
- Draft, update, and maintain standard operating procedures and instructional manuals for departmental repairs and maintenance.
Required Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong mathematical and statistical abilities, proficient computer skills for data entry, report generation, and program management, and excellent organizational and follow-through capabilities.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to use hands for handling, talking, or hearing; the employee must regularly stand and walk, with occasional crawling, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, or balancing. The employee may occasionally push, pull, lift, or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and moderate to high noise levels in the work environment.
