The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of practical experience as a Plant Maintenance/Engineering Manager within a food production setting, demonstrating robust technical expertise in production machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, electrical systems, and related apparatus. A proven history of leadership, program management, communication, and organizational capabilities is essential.
- Lead and oversee the maintenance team's activities to ensure facility upkeep, repairs, preventive maintenance, compliance with stormwater regulations, and project management; collaborate with vendors, solicit RFPs, and manage work orders and budgets.
- Supervise all administrative and operational aspects related to plant maintenance, machinery repairs, and inspections.
- Establish and maintain a routine inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid processing machinery, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, and associated plant equipment.
- Keep accurate business records that address the administrative and operational requirements of the facility and plant.
- Maintain updated blueprints of facilities, utility layouts, and technical manuals for machinery and refrigeration systems as needed for operational reference.
- Guide, mentor, and lead employees in alignment with the organization's policies and relevant laws.
- Oversee the design and manufacturing of equipment to meet production requirements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations; including product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, and pneumatic lines.
- Document all schematic and diagram modifications to keep plant records current.
- Ensure adherence to all elements of the Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program.
- Responsible for distributing tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
- Tasked with drafting, updating, and maintaining standard operating procedures and instructional manuals for departmental repairs and maintenance.
Essential Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong mathematical and statistical abilities, proficient computer skills for data entry, report generation, and program tracking, and excellent organizational and follow-through capabilities.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands for manipulation, communicate verbally, and occasionally taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and occasionally crawl, squat, kneel, reach, climb, or balance. The employee may occasionally need to push, pull, lift, or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and the noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to high.
