Engineering and Maintenance Operations Manager

The successful applicant will possess a minimum of five years of practical experience as a Plant Maintenance/Engineering Manager within a dairy production setting, demonstrating extensive technical expertise in production machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, refrigeration, electrical systems, and related technologies. A proven history of leadership, program oversight, effective communication, and organizational abilities is essential.

  • Lead and oversee the maintenance team to ensure the upkeep of facilities, repairs, preventive maintenance, stormwater management, and project execution; liaise with suppliers, solicit proposals, manage work orders, and oversee budgetary considerations.
  • Administer all operational and administrative tasks associated with plant maintenance, machinery repairs, and inspections.
  • Establish and uphold a regular inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid processing equipment, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, and other relevant machinery.
  • Maintain essential business documentation pertinent to the operational and administrative requirements of the facility.
  • Keep updated blueprints of facilities, utility layouts, and technical manuals for machinery and refrigeration systems as required for operational purposes.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop team members in alignment with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Supervise the design and production of equipment necessary for operational needs, ensuring compliance with safety standards; oversee product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, etc.
  • Document all schematic and diagram modifications to ensure current plant records.
  • Ensure adherence to all components of the Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program.
  • Responsible for delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
  • Tasked with drafting, revising, and maintaining standard operating procedures and instructional manuals for departmental repairs and maintenance.

Essential Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficient mathematical and statistical abilities, advanced computer skills for data entry, report generation, and program management, and exceptional organizational and follow-through capabilities.

Physical Requirements: The employee is frequently required to use hands for handling and feeling; to talk or hear; and occasionally taste or smell. The role necessitates constant standing and walking, with occasional crawling, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, balancing, and stooping. The employee may need to push, pull, lift, or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The employee may be regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and moderate to high noise levels in the work environment.
