Position Summary:

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items for meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as catering services and special meals for new parents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and record daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, along with meal temperature logs.
  • Review communication boards and emails for updates and changes.
  • Access and verify diet orders for hospital patients, noting any changes in dietary needs.
  • Utilize spreadsheets for managing diet specifications and portion control.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Assist in assembling and delivering patient meal trays.
  • Ensure timely service of meals to residents, adhering to scheduled meal times.
  • Comply with health department regulations regarding food safety and personal hygiene.
  • Support cleaning and resetting dining areas post-meals as needed.
  • Provide training and orientation to new dietary staff when requested.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement activities as assigned.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete mandatory training sessions.
  • Follow guidelines for preparing cleaning and sanitizing solutions as directed.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in food service or three years of relevant experience in an institutional setting.
