Position Overview
The role of Inspector III is pivotal in ensuring that all products, components, and assemblies are inspected accurately and efficiently to meet customer and military standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of materials and parts, both visually and mechanically, to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Verify dimensions using various mechanical measuring tools and gauges.
- Utilize Microsoft Word and ERP systems for documentation and reporting.
- Perform receiving and in-process inspections with a variety of measurement devices.
- Review supplier documentation and internal work orders for accuracy.
- Interpret blueprints and possess a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
- Ensure timely calibration of gauges and verify their accuracy prior to use.
- Initiate Nonconforming Material Reports (NCM) as necessary and maintain proper segregation practices.
- Participate in customer site visits and audits as required.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in all work areas.
Accountability
- Report directly to the Quality Manager / Lead CMM Programmer I.
- Ensure all work is performed accurately and in accordance with customer specifications and company policies.
- Effectively manage time to maximize productivity.
- Keep the Quality Manager / Lead informed of progress and any issues.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
- Position requires standing and walking in a manufacturing environment, along with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be capable of using a crane to lift heavy objects.
- Efficient computer use is essential.
Qualifications
- High School or Trade School diploma with 0 to 2 years of quality control experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing setting.
- Basic understanding of GDT and mechanical layout inspection.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a plus.
