Job Summary

The Oceanside Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting the district's personnel program and ensuring the smooth operation of our human resources functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized clerical work in support of the personnel program, including coordinating the recruitment process, processing personnel for employment, and maintaining personnel files, records, and reports.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, provide administrative support to the personnel team, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and providing general assistance to staff.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies, including creating job postings, advertising job openings, and screening applications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including personnel files, attendance records, and benefits information.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, students, and the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; two years of varied clerical or office work, preferably including contact with the public.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, California Education Code, and basic practices of the Merit System.
  • Principles and techniques used in the recruitment and selection process.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills, using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment.
  • Researching, record-keeping, and report preparation skills.
  • Operation of computer and assigned software.
Working Conditions

This is an 8-hour/day, 12-month position. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced office environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
