Job Summary:

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist I to join our Radiation Oncology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of linear accelerators, HDR Remote Afterloaders, and Stereotactic Radiosurgery programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the proper function and safety of linear accelerators, including calibration, quality assurance, and special dosimetry measurements.
  • Assist the engineer with beam characterization, parameter settings, and recalibration.
  • Maintain dosimetry equipment and perform quality assurance on equipment and software.
  • Perform dosimetry of specialized implants, including Vascular Brachytherapy and Cesium-137 Gynecological implants.
  • Participate in all radiation safety aspects of the radiation oncology department, including staying up-to-date on new regulatory requirements and maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Maintain the Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program, including planning and assisting in delivery of all cases and performing quality assurance on device and software.
  • Interpret and execute physicians' orders and perform secondary calculations on all dosimetry calculations.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when moving and positioning patients.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in medical physics or a directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
  • Three years of radiation oncology experience and certification with the American Board of Radiology as a Medical Physicist.
  • A Ph.D. in medical physics or a directly related field is preferred.
