Key Responsibilities:

As an Environmental Services Technician, your duties will include:

  • Maintaining cleanliness in non-clinical areas, including common spaces and administrative offices, while minimizing exposure to biohazard materials.
  • Gathering necessary cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring they are returned to their designated locations.
  • Overseeing the cleanliness and inventory of the cleaning cart, managing issued keys, and monitoring issued communication devices.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment by utilizing appropriate safety equipment and signage, and securely storing cleaning chemicals.
  • Performing cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and sanitizing bathrooms to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
  • Replacing waste liners, emptying trash containers, and periodically checking waste baskets.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, furniture, and surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Replenishing disposable items such as towels, soap, and toilet paper.
  • Handling soiled linen and preparing patient rooms for future admissions.
  • Wearing protective clothing in designated areas as required.
  • Securing doors after completing work and managing recyclable materials.
  • Utilizing various disinfectants in accordance with current infection control protocols.
  • Communicating effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families, both in person and via electronic devices.
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs, utilizing handheld electronic devices for data entry.
  • Demonstrating a positive attitude and collaboration with colleagues to enhance unit performance.
  • Completing all mandatory training and educational requirements.
  • Adhering to compliance standards and ethical practices in all responsibilities.
  • Assisting in the orientation of new staff members.
  • Exhibiting regular attendance and the ability to work defined schedules, including overtime as necessary.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • The ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
