ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The AML Operations team is tasked with reviewing alerts generated from OFAC, 314(a), and other watchlist screenings. The manager is responsible for addressing inquiries related to CIP/OFAC exceptions and conducting regular Quality Control (QC) reviews. This role also involves providing updates for executive management and assisting in the integration of new fintech partners. Collaboration with the Financial Crimes Technology and Analytics team is essential for optimizing CRS/Watchlist settings and conducting testing.

KEY FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Delivering internal services aligned with Coastal's Core Values.
  • Coordinating responses to Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) 314(a) requests.
  • Implementing controls to ensure compliance with CTR Exemption requirements.
  • Maintaining a robust internal control environment to achieve satisfactory audit results.
  • Overseeing OFAC match resolutions and ensuring effective monitoring procedures.
  • Staying informed on AML and OFAC regulations and adapting to regulatory changes.
  • Adhering to established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Leading a motivated team, ensuring adequate staffing, and fostering professional development.
  • Conducting QC reviews to monitor analyst effectiveness.
  • Assisting team members in enhancing their skills and career progression.
  • Driving process improvements for increased efficiency.
  • Providing updates for senior management and board reports.
  • Collaborating with the Financial Crimes Technology and Analytics team on system tuning and testing.
  • Identifying and resolving operational issues, communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Developing written procedures and processes to ensure task completion.
  • Participating in audits and risk assessments.
  • Offering advisory services to various business lines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and related regulations.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts clearly, including AML, CIP, KYC, CDD, EDD, OFAC, and SAR.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and trend analysis.
  • Proficiency in developing and enhancing systems and processes.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research capabilities utilizing various sources.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of banking experience focused on anti-money laundering compliance or related fields.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a managerial role, particularly in AML investigations or BSA/AML program management.
  • CAMS, CFE, or equivalent certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Advanced understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience in enhancing AML operational processes for effectiveness.
