Role Summary

As a proactive organization, we prioritize health and safety in all our operations. The Water Safety Instructor plays a crucial role in delivering swimming instruction and facilitating aquatic activities that align with our program objectives while fostering positive relationships among participants and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Red Cross 'Learn to Swim' programs for participants aged 6-21.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to design engaging and age-appropriate swimming activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of activity plans and monitor participant progress.
  • Proactively address participant needs and manage situations in the swimming environment.
  • Complete daily reports and documentation as required.
  • Utilize effective behavior management techniques to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • Participate in mandatory department meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a lifeguard, instructor, or in a similar role.
  • Proven leadership experience in educational, social service, or youth development settings.
  • Understanding of supervision, organization, and facility maintenance principles.
  • Current Water Safety Certification from the American Red Cross is required.
  • Experience working with children is essential.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification is mandatory.
