Position Summary

As a proactive organization, BCNY adheres to health and safety regulations to safeguard our members and staff. Reporting to the Education Director, the Education Coordinator will be instrumental in developing and implementing academic programs, including Homework Help, High School Access, and College Access initiatives. This role requires a dependable and motivated individual with a proven track record of engaging with teens and young adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Homework Help Study Hall program while assisting with other educational initiatives as necessary.
  • Monitor and assess members' academic progress and attendance through various evaluation methods.
  • Provide direct support to boys through tutoring, small-group sessions, and other educational activities.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and community outreach efforts.
  • Encourage positive behavior and adherence to clubhouse guidelines, addressing any behavioral challenges as they arise.
  • Organize and maintain the Library and Learning Center resources.
  • Prepare educational materials and curriculum as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and maintain regular communication with the Education Director regarding progress and concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in tutoring or classroom instruction.
  • Experience working with students aged 6-18 is essential.
  • Familiarity with NYC educational standards is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of core subjects, including Math, English, Science, and History.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and meet the diverse needs of students.
