This role is classified as Safety Sensitive and involves collaborating closely with the Transportation Manager to oversee and direct the activities of Bus Operators. Responsibilities encompass the functions of Dispatcher, Road Supervisor, as well as scheduling and administrative tasks.

  • Salary Range: $58,214 to $69,857 (compensation will be based on education and experience)

Key Responsibilities in this Role:
  • Conduct daily dispatching and related tasks; coordinate trip assignments; monitor radio communications; ensure operator adherence to schedules and reporting times.
  • Maintain comprehensive dispatch records, including daily time logs and prepare reports.
  • Conduct appraisals for Bus Operators, including evaluations of driving and customer service skills.
  • Provide direct road supervision; ensure operators adhere to schedules and operational protocols.
  • Assist operators during accidents, conduct accident investigations, and address passenger issues and road calls/breakdowns.
  • Schedule coverage for late or absent Operators as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Federal, State, or Local Law enforcement to ensure safety and security of operations.
  • Perform minor repairs or replacements of coin/bill modules in electronic fare boxes.
  • Compile and submit timely reports on work activities, operations, and incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Success:
  • Associate degree in business management or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • One to two years of relevant experience in public transportation is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with scheduling software is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn proprietary software/hardware as required.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The role requires extended periods of walking or standing and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. It may also involve frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling. Employees are expected to perform job duties in accordance with established health and safety procedures and policies. Extended periods of sitting may be required. Use of hands and arms is necessary to reach or utilize various tools or objects. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
