As a Facilities Engineering Support professional at Caterpillar Inc., you will play a vital role in assisting Facilities Engineering and Maintenance across the Facility Campus. Your responsibilities will encompass the design and documentation of layouts, vendor coordination, project oversight, safety protocols, ergonomics, and various other tasks as assigned. Specific duties may include:

  • Providing facilities assistance to multiple locations as required, addressing equipment repairs, cleanliness issues, office enhancements, project management, and preventive maintenance of production machinery.
  • Developing detailed Scope of Work documents that outline processing steps, component specifications, technical installation aspects, and facility enhancement initiatives.
  • Updating standard work schedules and assembly procedures based on engineering feedback.
  • Creating necessary documentation for capital and expense budget accounts.
  • Implementing Caterpillar Production System principles, including 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Reduction, and Standard Work.
  • Exercising independent decision-making and problem-solving skills to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Meeting project deadlines and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Utilizing engineering drawings and release notices to diagnose equipment issues and identify areas for improvement.
  • Employing CAD systems to develop layouts and determine material placements.
  • Utilizing systems such as CAD, SAP, and Team Center for project execution.
  • Engaging in cross-functional communication to achieve objectives.
  • Summarizing project outcomes for leadership review.
  • Contributing as a collaborative team member.
  • Operating industrial equipment, including forklifts and aerial lifts, as required.
  • Being available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 months of experience in Facility Maintenance, Mechanical, or Assembly roles.
  • Experience in Project Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in blueprint reading and/or AutoCAD.
  • Technical degree or diploma/certificate.
  • Experience in Operations, Industrial, Maintenance, or Planning roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer systems and Caterpillar software, including Microsoft Project.
  • Understanding of Assembly Planning Systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage with a solid mathematical foundation.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

Additional Information:

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Monday - Thursday, Fridays as needed). Overtime may be required for maintenance and project tasks.
