Position Summary
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in driving process enhancements, emphasizing value stream management, quality enhancement, and cost efficiency. This position involves leading projects and mentoring team members in effective extrusion methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate daily with production personnel to gather and analyze operational data, conducting statistical analyses to identify root causes of issues.
- Lead cross-departmental process improvement initiatives, ensuring effective communication across all organizational levels.
- Manage project teams without direct authority, initiating cost-saving strategies and monitoring outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation and oversight of the capital budget, forecasting development costs, and aiding in capital request preparations.
Essential Duties
- Provide engineering support in the design and development of innovative processes and products, focusing on manufacturability and process integration.
- Spearhead significant process improvement projects aimed at eliminating waste throughout the supply chain.
- Analyze customer specifications, drawings, and schematics to create technical extruded products.
- Develop training processes and procedures for engineering and production teams, promoting continuous improvement practices.
Collaboration and Evaluation
- Work alongside sales, production, and engineering teams to assess and implement process improvements that enhance profitability and return on investment.
- Support the strategic planning of technical developments, concentrating on necessary process modifications for future advancements.
Qualifications
- A solid foundation in plastics and extensive experience in extrusion or injection molding is preferred.
- Proven track record in process development and experience in medical device manufacturing, extrusion, injection molding, and industrial manufacturing.
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience in an extrusion manufacturing environment is required.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks is beneficial.
- Strong communication, listening, and diagnostic skills are essential for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
Work Environment
- The individual must be hands-on and willing to engage in the production environment, including off-shift work as project demands arise.
- Travel to divisional and customer sites may be necessary to support product and process-related initiatives.
Preferred Experience
- Six Sigma or Lean methodology experience is highly recommended.
