Position Summary
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency, focusing on value stream management, quality enhancement, and cost optimization. This position involves leading initiatives and mentoring team members in extrusion methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate daily with production personnel to gather and analyze operational data.
- Conduct statistical analyses to identify root causes of process inefficiencies.
- Lead cross-departmental process improvement projects, ensuring effective communication across all organizational levels.
- Initiate and oversee cost reduction strategies, compiling relevant data and making actionable recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the capital budget, forecasting development costs, and preparing capital requests.
Essential Duties
- Provide engineering support in the design and development of innovative processes and products.
- Contribute a manufacturing perspective to product development, focusing on manufacturability and process integration.
- Drive major process improvement projects aimed at eliminating waste throughout the supply chain.
- Work with technical documentation, including customer drawings and schematics, to produce high-quality extruded products.
- Develop training processes and procedures for engineering and production teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A solid understanding of plastics is preferred, with extensive experience in extrusion or injection molding.
- Proven background in process development, particularly in medical device manufacturing.
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or equivalent experience in an extrusion manufacturing environment is required.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Solidworks is advantageous.
- Strong communication and diagnostic skills are essential for effective collaboration with customers and internal teams.
Additional Requirements
- Must be hands-on and willing to engage in the production environment as needed.
- Ability to travel to support product and process-related initiatives.
- Six Sigma or Lean experience is highly desirable.
