Food Service Operations Supervisor

The Food Service Operations Supervisor is accountable for ensuring exceptional service delivery to all patrons and colleagues in a warm, genuine, and respectful manner. The role requires a presence on the operational floor for the majority of the time, actively overseeing, mentoring, and assisting both staff and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
• Supervise staff and student workers, ensuring compliance with Monroe County and RIT policies.
• Recruit, manage, schedule, and train student employees for specific shifts to guarantee smooth and efficient meal service. Adhere to Student Employment Office guidelines.
• Procure supplies from vendors as designated.
• Oversee inventory management.
• Maintain cleanliness and uphold sanitation and safety standards within the facility.
• Responsible for the opening and closing procedures of the unit, ensuring building security as per the schedule.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of safe food handling practices, including storage and serving techniques.
• Understand equipment used in serving areas.
• Demonstrate proficiency with POS systems, including InfoGenesis and Agilisys.
• Ensure adherence to cash handling protocols for the unit.
• Familiarity with departmental and institutional personnel policies to effectively engage with staff and customers.
• Follow safety precautions and procedures in the workplace.
Administrative Responsibilities:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrate overall computer literacy.
• Knowledgeable in invoice processing.
• Execute special tasks as assigned by management to support both Front of House and Back of House operations.
• Participate in meetings and serve on committees as required by management.

Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-volume food service environment, including restaurants, country clubs, retail, catering, or institutional settings.
- Experience in coordinating activities in both front and back of house.
- Servsafe certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
- Allertain certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.

The position may involve serving a daily clientele ranging from 1,500 to over 3,000 individuals, including faculty, staff, and students.
Flexibility in Scheduling
Flexibility in work hours may be necessary during breaks, summer sessions, and intersessions. Additionally, large institutional events may require extended hours.
