A Day in the Life

As a Payroll Specialist at American Express, you will play a critical role in leading our payroll and tax function for the US. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding payroll and taxation. This includes implementing and overseeing the unemployment claim process.

You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, providing exceptional customer service to employees and colleagues, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. Additionally, you will develop and implement processes to ensure accuracy and compliance, process all SUI rate updates and filing frequency changes, manage completion of colleague separation letters, conduct fact-finding research on disputed unemployment insurance claims, manage all incoming requests for verification and unemployment claims, and communicate effectively with colleagues and employees.

Your Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of related payroll experience or equivalent
  • Strong background in human resources, benefits administration, and payroll tax
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs

Salary Range: $65,000 - $115,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits package.
