Job Overview

At USAA, we are seeking a skilled Compensation and Benefits Specialist to play a crucial role in facilitating the financial security of millions of U.S. military members and their families.

This hybrid role requires an individual to be in the office 3 days per week with flexible scheduling. The position can be based in one of the following locations: Colorado Springs, CO or Phoenix, AZ.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $54,940.00 - $98,440.00 based on experience and market position, as well as various pay incentives for overall corporate and individual performance. Our benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans, 401(k), pension, life insurance, parental benefits, adoption assistance, paid time off program with paid holidays plus 16 paid volunteer hours, and various wellness programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and handle existing and emerging risks associated with business activities.
  • Ensure risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Adjust non-attorney involved soft tissue bodily injury claims, as well as all auto physical damage associated with those claims.
  • Adjust soft tissue, moderately complex and complex 1st party PIP/MP medical claims.
  • Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on soft tissue claims.
  • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, evaluate, negotiate, and arrive at claim settlement within appropriate authority guidelines.
  • Clearly document thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
  • Provide advice and set expectations into next steps to members.
  • Collaborate and support team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate matters for escalation.
  • Partner and/or direct vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution.
  • Support workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 1 year of injury adjusting or auto liability adjusting experience to include highly complex vehicle physical damage, such as multi-vehicle, non-owned vehicles, or total loss claims.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract as well as application of case and state laws and regulations.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts.
