**Job Summary**

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Facilities Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in optimizing mechanical systems and processes within our facilities to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing mechanical systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize mechanical processes, reduce energy consumption, and enhance overall facility performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute projects aimed at improving mechanical system reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for facility upgrades, retrofits, and expansions, considering factors such as energy efficiency, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting mechanical issues, diagnosing root causes, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Design and implement preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and systems to ensure optimal reliability and longevity.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to mechanical engineering, facilities management, and energy conservation.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for mechanical projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

**Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on facilities management, preferably in industrial or commercial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, process equipment, and utilities.
  • Experience with facility energy management, including energy audits, HVAC optimization, and implementation of energy conservation measures.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solidworks) and familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and energy monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and ASME.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
