Skills and Experience:

As the Paper Process Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass the timely delivery of process engineering outputs, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and quality standards. This role may also involve providing oversight and technical guidance to a team of process engineers on larger-scale projects.



Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Paper Science from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the pulp and paper sector is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of paper machine apparatus, processes, and operations is necessary. Experience in developing PFDs and P&IDs, conducting heat and material balances, and creating equipment specifications is expected. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are important. Professional Engineering registration is advantageous.

Essential Job Duties:

You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising process engineering activities, ensuring quality and accuracy while adhering to performance budgets and schedules.

A clear understanding of project scope and deliverables is crucial.

It is essential to initiate timely project change notices when deviations from project scope occur that may impact cost, deliverables, or schedule.

Establishing process design criteria for the project is a key responsibility. You will oversee the development of PFDs and P&IDs, heat and material balances, hydraulic calculations, and other process engineering tasks. Reviewing and approving all process engineering outputs is part of your role. You will prepare equipment specifications and assist in creating bid packages for equipment procurement. Additionally, reviewing vendor information and reconciling it against process design documents is necessary. Coordination with design leaders from other disciplines will ensure alignment in the design effort. You will review discipline design information and drawings for process engineering input and participate in interdisciplinary design reviews. Developing preliminary designs suitable for estimating as part of capital project development studies is also expected. Staying familiar with and utilizing industry standards, procedures, and guidelines is essential.

Verification of calculations, reports, and studies conducted by other engineers to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes, specifications, design criteria, and sound engineering practices is required.
