Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Public Relations to join our team at Association TRENDS. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances our reputation and promotes our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic communications plan to increase awareness of our programs and priorities among key stakeholder audiences.
  • Manage and monitor our corporate communications activities, including public and media relations, to support our mission and enhance our external reputation.
  • Partner with our Executive Team, staff, and volunteers to identify and capitalize on internal and external communications opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective public relations plans for individual programs, including media outreach, social media engagement, and crisis communications.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of communication products and services, including press releases, speeches, presentations, and other online communications media.
  • Lead and manage a team of communications professionals to achieve our communications goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communications and public relations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; candidates with relevant higher-level degrees/honors will be given priority.
  • Five to ten years of digital and social media experience.
  • Five to ten years of professional work experience in progressively more responsible roles in communications and public relations, including at least three years of professional work experience in project management and proven supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with a volunteer, governance-driven organization (i.e., professional & individual membership); priority will be given to candidates who have worked in scientific/engineering nonprofit organizations and scientific/engineering societies.
  • Experience with a fast-paced office environment and shifting priorities.
  • Strong track record of high integrity, good judgment, confidentiality, and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in communications or public relations (e.g., APR, ABC).
  • Experience with crisis communications and issues management.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in communications and public relations.
  • Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Basecamp).
