Position: Construction Estimator

Role Summary

The primary responsibility of the Construction Estimator is to generate precise bid proposals and scope evaluations for prospective construction endeavors. This role encompasses tasks such as bid analysis, project oversight, and material sourcing. You will prepare cost estimates for new initiatives and modification requests for ongoing contracts. Utilizing sound judgment and expertise, you will manage purchasing, labor, equipment, and transportation costs to formulate a comprehensive cost estimate that aligns with the organization's financial goals. Ultimately, your expertise will be pivotal in driving new revenue streams for the company.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Interpret bid requirements and specifications, creating a detailed inventory of materials required for the project.
  • Analyze proposals, specifications, drawings, and pre-bid discussions to define the scope of work and quantity assessments.
  • Integrate safety considerations into decision-making throughout the estimation process.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with project owners and general contractors.
  • Oversee the procurement process in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Estimate all labor, materials, procurement items, and equipment costs to deliver a comprehensive pricing proposal.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to comprehend technical and legal documentation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating large commercial self-perform concrete projects.
  • Proficient in cast-in-place concrete construction, including footings and foundations.
  • Familiarity with construction terminology and proficiency in estimating software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of structural materials such as joists, decks, stairs, rails, and anchor rods.
  • Capability to draft a detailed scope of work, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software is advantageous.
  • Prior internships or project engineering experience are beneficial.
  • Self-motivated and enterprising, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency.
