Job Overview

Position Summary: The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Children's Home Network facilities are kept in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. This position involves a variety of custodial tasks, supply management, minor repairs, and other responsibilities aimed at maintaining the overall quality of the campus environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Effectively prioritize and manage tasks assigned by the Senior Director of Administration.

2. Conduct regular inspections of the campus, collecting litter and emptying waste receptacles as necessary.

3. Assess the need for janitorial supplies and place orders through the designated vendor platform.

4. Oversee the inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.

5. Perform weekly assessments of janitorial supplies across all facilities, including residential areas, and distribute items based on established inventory guidelines.

6. Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all cleaning chemicals used on campus.

7. Execute routine cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities to uphold a safe and healthy environment.

Main Duties Include:

a. Cleaning offices, meeting spaces, and recreational areas.

b. Maintaining floors and restrooms, including refilling paper products and disposing of waste.

c. Performing floor maintenance tasks such as mopping and vacuuming.

d. Dusting furniture and fixtures as required.

e. Disinfecting washroom facilities and replenishing supplies.

f. Reporting any damages or maintenance needs promptly.

g. Operating floor polishing equipment and performing spot cleaning as necessary.

8. Organize and maintain storage areas for cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring safety and accessibility.

9. Assist with maintenance work orders after completing custodial tasks, either independently or as part of a team.

10. Communicate essential information to the Senior Director of Administration regularly.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

1. High School diploma or equivalent preferred, with at least one year of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.

Licenses & Certifications:

- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

- Ability to provide transportation for job-related duties.

- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.

- Successful completion of background checks as required.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Proficient in the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

2. Knowledgeable in floor maintenance techniques.

3. Strong teamwork and communication skills.

4. Basic mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift at least fifty pounds.

2. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

3. Capability to operate machinery and perform physical tasks safely.

4. Ability to bend, stoop, and climb ladders as needed.

Work Environment:

1. Exposure to various cleaning materials and chemicals.

2. Work conducted both indoors and outdoors, with potential exposure to challenging conditions.

3. Interaction with children and the public, requiring a professional demeanor.
