The Assistant Kitchen Manager will play a vital role in overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring seamless service. This position offers the chance to develop leadership skills, including staff mentoring and gaining valuable administrative experience, such as collaborating on new dish creations with the culinary team. A primary focus will be on refining personal mentoring techniques and supporting the training and discipline of back-of-house team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to standard kitchen operating procedures.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, assisting in training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Support preparation for service.
  • Oversee kitchen operations during service, monitoring staff performance and service flow.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs on menu development and daily specials.
  • Assist in staffing needs for back-of-house positions.
  • Prepare daily service reports and manage HR-related processes.
  • Coordinate inventory management and cost control with the finance team.

Qualifications:

Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment.
  • Experience in back-of-house administrative and managerial functions is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to see, hear, speak, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand for extended periods, bend, and move intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodations.
