Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and herbs in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare and portion various proteins, including meat, poultry, and seafood, while adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Accurately measure and assemble ingredients for diverse dishes, ensuring precision in quantities.
- Adhere to standardized recipes and procedures to maintain uniformity in the quality and taste of prepared ingredients.
- Engage with chefs and line cooks to comprehend specific preparation needs for each menu item.
- Oversee and manage inventory levels of both perishable and non-perishable items.
- Rotate stock and label all items appropriately to minimize waste and guarantee freshness.
- Alert the culinary management team regarding low inventory levels.
- Safely and efficiently utilize kitchen equipment, including knives, slicers, and food processors.
- Regularly clean and maintain equipment, promptly reporting any malfunctions or issues.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen workspace.
- Support kitchen staff in various tasks related to food preparation and service.
- Adhere to proper food handling and safety protocols to prevent contamination and uphold the highest hygiene standards.
- Monitor and document food temperatures during preparation and storage.
- Collaborate closely with other kitchen personnel, including line cooks, to ensure a seamless flow of food preparation.
- Effectively communicate with the kitchen team regarding ingredient availability, freshness, and any issues that may impact the preparation process.
- Adapt to changes in the menu, production schedule, or kitchen procedures as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.
- Be prepared to assist in other areas of the kitchen as required.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a kitchen assistant or in a similar role within a culinary setting.
- Culinary education or relevant training is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and knife skills.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in food preparation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
