The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) is dedicated to our mission of "Empowering People to Make Connections." We are seeking a highly professional and personable individual to fulfill the role of Information Operator, ensuring exceptional service delivery to our customers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage incoming customer inquiries through various communication channels in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintain and update passenger trip data accurately.
- Welcome and assist the general public with their inquiries.
- Assess the nature of questions and provide appropriate responses.
- Deliver precise information regarding transit routes, schedules, and related services through verbal, written, and in-person communication.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of TARTA's service area, routes, and schedules.
- Understand and adhere to TARTA's safety protocols to ensure the well-being of employees and the public.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required.
- Facilitate the sale of transit passes and tickets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Technical Skills: This role necessitates strong computer proficiency and the ability to adapt to specialized software, including web-based applications. Information Operators are responsible for coordinating activities related to vehicle routing and dispatching. They analyze and assess routes and schedules to ensure efficient transportation services while acting as a liaison between passengers and TARTA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional telephone etiquette.
- Proficient computer skills relevant to job requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to listen attentively and convey information clearly and courteously.
- Ability to interact patiently and tactfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Clear and articulate voice for effective telephone communication.
- Awareness of operational challenges, passenger concerns, and safety issues.
- Strong judgment and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the public.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, talking, and listening. Occasional standing, walking, and use of hands for various tasks are required. Extensive computer use and viewing of screens are necessary, along with the ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment: The work environment is representative of a busy office setting, with a moderately quiet noise level.
