ABOUT QURALIS

QurAlis is at the forefront of neurobiology, striving to revolutionize the treatment landscape for neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Our foundation is built on a team of esteemed neurobiologists from Harvard Medical School and Harvard University, dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative precision medicines. Our clinical-stage biotechnology firm is advancing a robust pipeline of therapeutic candidates targeting specific ALS and FTD pathologies, as well as defined patient populations based on genetic mutations and clinical biomarkers.

Position Overview:

We are in search of a driven Biomarker Scientist to contribute to our CNS Biomarker discovery initiatives. This role involves crafting translational strategies for novel therapeutics, focusing on pharmacodynamics, patient selection criteria, and elucidating mechanisms of action. The Biomarker Scientist will collaborate closely with both scientific and management teams to ensure studies are conducted with high scientific integrity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design and execute experiments, providing expert knowledge in neurodegeneration pathways.
  • Develop assays for highly sensitive RNA and protein quantification tailored to our needs.
  • Formulate and implement discovery strategies while overseeing their execution.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret findings, troubleshoot issues creatively, and propose solutions.
  • Identify and manage relationships with contract research organizations for outsourced studies.
  • Continuously review scientific literature to share insights and innovative methodologies with colleagues.
  • Work alongside clinical experts to translate biomarker strategies into practice.
  • Effectively communicate across various teams, including translational medicine, clinical development, and discovery.
  • Present research outcomes at scientific meetings and conferences, both internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in academic or industry settings, particularly in neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, disease modeling, drug discovery, or assay development. Previous experience in biomarker development is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated scientific excellence through high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to engage in laboratory work.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, work ethic, and motivation to excel.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable in leading or participating in matrix teams.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in developing and troubleshooting customized high-throughput RNA or protein assays.
  • Expertise in isolating extracellular vesicles from biofluids or cell culture media.
  • Experience managing multiple outsourced projects while adhering to timelines and milestones.
  • Familiarity with progressing assays from development through to analytical validation.
