Patient Care Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary objective of this role is to deliver consistent daily nursing assistance to each resident, adhering to their individualized care plans and complying with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as directives from supervisory staff.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responding promptly to resident requests
  • Ensuring that all nursing services are rendered with respect for privacy
  • Facilitating resident comfort (including assistance with bed positioning and hydration)
  • Assisting residents during meal times (including food preparation and feeding assistance as necessary)
  • Supporting residents with personal hygiene routines, including bathing and grooming
  • Executing safe lifting and transferring of residents between mobility aids and beds
  • Assisting residents in standing, sitting, and ambulating
  • Transporting residents to dining and activity areas, and back to their rooms
  • Reporting any changes in resident health status to the Nurse Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintaining confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Adhering to all facility policies and procedures, including safeguarding user credentials
  • Complying with Infection Control protocols
  • Immediately reporting any exposure to hazardous materials to a supervisor
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of CNA training from an accredited institution
Possession of a valid CNA certification number

Experience / Skills
Prior experience is beneficial, but training will be provided
Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the English language
Ability to utilize a computer or tablet for resident data entry

WORK ENVIRONMENT
May experience frequent interruptions
Engagement with residents, families, and regulatory agencies is common
Exposure to various odors, dust, disinfectants, and other environmental factors
Potential contact with infectious materials and hazardous conditions
Handling of chemicals may be required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be capable of moving throughout the facility during the workday
Active involvement in nursing areas is expected
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assistance is required for heavier loads up to 100 pounds
Capability to read fine print on devices and medical documentation
