Aon is seeking a Property Risk Assessment Consultant

We are excited to announce a career opportunity within Aon's Property Risk Consulting division. This role is designed to support our team in evaluating and mitigating property risks.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with both colleagues and clients to gain insights into various property risks, including those related to fire, earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters. They will play a crucial role in providing recommendations aimed at minimizing the Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) associated with the client’s property assets.

This position offers the flexibility of remote work from Texas or Atlanta, Georgia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive property risk assessments and underwriting surveys across a range of industries.
  • Oversee hydrant and fire pump flow tests, document sprinkler system layouts, and gather hydraulic sprinkler data.
  • Evaluate client facilities for potential fire, smoke, and other property loss risks, and develop loss expectancy models for recommendations.
  • Advise clients on effective hazard control measures to minimize or avert losses, encouraging the implementation of suggested strategies.
  • Provide expert technical support to global manufacturing sites, warehouses, research and development centers, and office environments in areas such as fire protection and loss prevention.
  • Perform general fire protection consulting visits to various client locations.
  • Utilize Client Standards, NFPA, FM Global, or other recognized methodologies to resolve technical fire protection challenges.
  • Review architectural and engineering plans for client facilities, ensuring compliance with fire protection standards.
  • Participate in facility design and construction meetings to offer insights on fire loss prevention and engineering concerns.
  • Develop cost-effective strategies to address fire loss prevention recommendations.
  • Investigate fire incidents and compile detailed reports or presentations outlining findings.
  • Contribute to the annual insurance renewal process.
  • Offer practical solutions or alternatives to ensure adequate protection for buildings or processes.
  • Support construction and new manufacturing initiatives to meet necessary fire protection standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a consulting capacity with a High-Value Property Insurance firm.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments and their associated hazards.
  • Knowledgeable in the Assembly of Construction, Occupancy, Protection, and Exposure (COPE) Data.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying NFPA and/or FM Global standards, as well as evaluating fire protection systems.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, organized, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of navigating ladders and stairs to access various building levels during assessments.
  • Previous experience assessing high-hazard environments (flammable liquids, combustible dusts, etc.) is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel over 50 miles from the office is expected frequently.
  • Ability to work remotely.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Highly Protected Risk engineering or consulting.
