Position Overview

Education Unlimited is dedicated to providing enriching academic summer camps and pre-college programs for students in grades 4-12. Our diverse offerings include various subjects such as public speaking, college admissions preparation, science exploration, performing arts, writing, technology, leadership, and media production.

Course Overview:

The Neuroanatomy course engages students in understanding the fundamental biology of neurons and their collaborative functions. Participants will explore the anatomy and physiology of the brain's systems through the lens of hypothetical neurological cases. Key areas of focus will include the cerebral cortex, subcortical structures, and the visual processing system. This interactive course incorporates multimedia resources and hands-on activities, such as constructing models with creative materials, conducting sheep brain dissections, and participating in laboratory demonstrations to examine neuroanatomy from multiple perspectives. The program culminates in a presentation event where students will take on the roles of neurologists, psychiatrists, or neuroradiologists to deliver case study presentations.

Instructor Responsibilities:

Instructors may be engaged for single or multiple sessions of the Neuroanatomy program. Responsibilities vary based on the format of the camp:

  • Online Instruction: Instructors will deliver the Education Unlimited curriculum, supervise online participants, facilitate live lab sessions with mailed materials, and coordinate a final showcase of student projects. Instructors must have a reliable computer and internet connection, as well as proficiency in virtual platforms.
  • In-Person Instruction: Instructors will teach the curriculum, supervise students in various settings, lead laboratory activities, and organize a final showcase of student work. Additional responsibilities include assisting the camp director with supervision, recreational activities, and administrative tasks.

Instructors are expected to demonstrate maturity, reliability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. They will also serve as mentors, guiding students during excursions and ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the program.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates typically possess a background in science education, with experience teaching neuroanatomy or related subjects. Qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in neuroanatomy or a strong knowledge base in the subject.
  • Experience working with high school students in an educational environment.
  • A bachelor's degree is required; preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees.
  • A genuine passion for science education.
  • Professional demeanor and self-motivation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
