Work Schedule: Flexible hours, responsive to crisis situations, may include evenings or weekends.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide assistance to primary and secondary victims/survivors of sexual assault, focusing on building trauma resilience. Deliver exceptional emotional support, therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and advocacy for victims/survivors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work. Specialized training in child sexual abuse, trauma, or sexual assault is highly preferred.
  2. Knowledge of crisis counseling, brief therapeutic approaches, and trauma-informed best practices.
  3. One to two years of direct clinical experience, which may include internships.
  4. Certification or licensure in the State of Michigan or eligibility for such.
  5. Understanding of anti-oppression frameworks in mental health.
  6. Familiarity with trauma-informed therapeutic modalities, including the neuroscience of trauma and somatic approaches.
  7. Active participation in professional associations.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Excellent interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach to treatment.
  10. Capacity to handle stressful situations effectively.
  11. Ability to engage with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  12. Proficient in utilizing technology and systems, including computer applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide immediate crisis mental health support to clients.
  2. Collaborate with agency staff to ensure integrated care.
  3. Deliver direct emotional support and counseling to survivors, including assessment, individual or group sessions, and referrals.
  4. Maintain accurate client records as required by the agency, including progress notes and assessment summaries.
  5. Coordinate services with other referring organizations.
  6. Facilitate support groups for survivors of violence.
  7. Advocate for clients' needs in accessing emergency and routine mental and physical health care.
  8. Engage in regular clinical supervision, including group consultation and individual supervision.
  9. Participate in team and staff meetings.
  10. Collaborate with and train other YWCA and community agency staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  11. Advocate for the needs of victims/survivors through participation in relevant task forces and working groups.
  12. Maintain necessary records, reports, and statistics.
  13. Safeguard confidential information obtained during the course of work.
  14. Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal licensing requirements and regulations.
  15. Conduct ethical risk assessments regarding child/elder abuse and potential harm to self or others.
  16. Project a positive image of the YWCA and its programs within the community.
  17. Work collaboratively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose, and One Imperative.
  2. Racial Justice Training.
  3. Orientation to intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting.
  4. Additional training and in-service opportunities throughout employment.
