Work Schedule: Flexible hours, responsive to crisis situations, may include evenings or weekends.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to eradicate racism, empower women, and advocate for peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all individuals.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide assistance to primary and secondary victims/survivors of sexual assault, focusing on building trauma resilience. Deliver exceptional emotional support, therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and advocacy for victims/survivors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or social work. Specialized training in child sexual abuse, trauma, or sexual assault is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of crisis counseling, brief therapeutic approaches, and trauma-informed best practices.
- One to two years of direct clinical experience, which may include internships.
- Certification or licensure in the State of Michigan or eligibility for such.
- Understanding of anti-oppression frameworks in mental health.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed therapeutic modalities, including the neuroscience of trauma and somatic approaches.
- Active participation in professional associations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach to treatment.
- Capacity to handle stressful situations effectively.
- Ability to engage with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proficient in utilizing technology and systems, including computer applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide immediate crisis mental health support to clients.
- Collaborate with agency staff to ensure integrated care.
- Deliver direct emotional support and counseling to survivors, including assessment, individual or group sessions, and referrals.
- Maintain accurate client records as required by the agency, including progress notes and assessment summaries.
- Coordinate services with other referring organizations.
- Facilitate support groups for survivors of violence.
- Advocate for clients' needs in accessing emergency and routine mental and physical health care.
- Engage in regular clinical supervision, including group consultation and individual supervision.
- Participate in team and staff meetings.
- Collaborate with and train other YWCA and community agency staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Advocate for the needs of victims/survivors through participation in relevant task forces and working groups.
- Maintain necessary records, reports, and statistics.
- Safeguard confidential information obtained during the course of work.
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal licensing requirements and regulations.
- Conduct ethical risk assessments regarding child/elder abuse and potential harm to self or others.
- Project a positive image of the YWCA and its programs within the community.
- Work collaboratively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose, and One Imperative.
- Racial Justice Training.
- Orientation to intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting.
- Additional training and in-service opportunities throughout employment.
