Business Development Director

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Director to join our team at Diageo. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for driving business growth and developing strategic partnerships with our distributor partners.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement category-specific commercial plans to drive consumer excitement and achieve maximum performance in execution, sales, profit, and market share objectives.
- Work closely with distributor partners to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, incorporating trends from latest insights gathered from the field.
- Plan and execute local-level activation events to build brand awareness and tell our unique stories to core consumers.
- Equip and empower BD Managers and distributor field sales teams on crafting the perfect outlet.
- Encourage and build BD Managers' capabilities, emphasizing selling, storytelling, and brand experience.
- Accountable for execution and activation Key Performance Indicators and market share growth in strategic accounts and independent channels in market.
- Identify accounts with greatest potential and allocate resources accordingly.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in market development and selling, with a proven track record of achieving volume and profit targets. You should have a complete understanding of beverage/alcohol business math and be able to identify and capitalize on opportunities through flawless execution, memorable brand marketing, and effective activation.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree and minimum 5+ years of market development and selling experience.
- Experience in field sales, distributor management, and leading teams.
- Consistent track record of managing and developing a high-performance sales team.
- Understanding of supplier/distributor dynamics and product supply chain.
- Relationship-builder who can persuade and influence others, enjoys interacting with others, and can effectively share the Diageo portfolio of brands' stories.
- Territory management – understands the BevAlc route to market and how to compliantly influence outcomes.
- Deep market knowledge – channel, customer, and consumer.
- Energy level – approachable and quick to engage with all partners – brings positive energy to customer, distributor, and agency interactions.
- Professionalism – polished but authentic – comfortable in public presentation situations. Self-starter – self-motivated and pro-active.
Diageo offers a competitive salary range of $144,750 - $241,250, as well as additional rewards, including annual incentive payment and stock awards. US-based employees are eligible for healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, and industry-leading parental leave, among others.
