Role Overview

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator plays a crucial role in the daily management of the Security Operations Center. Responsibilities encompass monitoring security systems, liaising with field Security Officers and Specialists, and dispatching calls for assistance to relevant agencies or units.

The SOC operates continuously, 24/7, throughout the year. Operators must be prepared to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and assess emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating assistance from emergency services as required.
  • Determine the nature and urgency of calls received.
  • Compile and maintain accurate alarm reports.
  • Oversee and monitor internal and external security systems.
  • Support emergency service units by verifying information through available data sources.
  • Utilize two-way radios to communicate instructions to remote units.
  • Operate dispatch-related equipment and software effectively.
  • Step into supervisory roles when necessary, under management direction.
  • Make swift and informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Contribute to daily briefings with valuable insights.
  • Manage multiple urgent tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US is required.
  • A valid driver's license or state ID is necessary.
  • Proficiency in English is required; Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Capability to manage multiple high-priority tasks concurrently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in public emergency services, private security, military, IT, or related fields.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or certification in IT, Cyber Security, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
