POSITION SUMMARY
- FULL TIME
The School of Communication & Public Affairs within the College of Arts & Cultural Studies is currently seeking applications for the role of Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication. The review of applications will commence immediately.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exhibit excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
- Instruct four communication courses each semester, including two sections of Oral Communication (public speaking) per term. Additional courses will be determined based on the candidate's expertise and the needs of the school. The undergraduate teaching load is 4-4.
- Deliver instruction at the undergraduate level in both in-person and online formats, with potential for graduate courses in the future.
- Guide students pursuing majors and minors in communication.
- Facilitate connections for students with internship opportunities and evaluate these experiences.
- Engage in scholarly research, presentations, and publications, as well as professional development activities. ORU encourages an active research agenda alongside teaching responsibilities.
- Participate in university events such as faculty meetings, committee sessions, retreats, and chapel services.
- Additional qualifications in debate coaching, event organization, grant writing, nonprofit management, and philanthropy may enhance one's candidacy.
- A Ph.D. in Communication is preferred; however, candidates with a Master's degree and at least 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in Communication, as well as ABD candidates, will be considered.
- Exhibit an integrated faith approach in the classroom, church, and community.
- Demonstrate a proven track record or potential for outstanding teaching and student engagement.
