Position Overview

PACCAR is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team. This role will involve collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to explore, design, and execute manufacturing techniques, tools, equipment, and processes to support innovative projects.

Division Overview

Dynacraft, a subsidiary of PACCAR, operates out of McKinney, TX, specializing in the production of medium and heavy-duty truck components. With over four decades of experience, Dynacraft supplies high-quality parts and services to PACCAR's manufacturing divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with New Business Development teams to gain insights into the requirements for new products.
  • Investigate and analyze manufacturing processes.
  • Design efficient layouts for tools and workflow to optimize production.
  • Evaluate engineering designs for manufacturability and suggest necessary modifications.
  • Communicate project progress effectively to plant management.
  • Support initiatives related to Industry 4.0 and associated technologies.
  • Research suppliers, assess product offerings, and propose sourcing strategies.
  • Draft RFQs, RFPs, and Design Build Agreements (DBAs).
  • Issue purchase orders and track vendor performance regarding quality and delivery timelines.
  • Oversee the receipt and inspection of equipment, ensuring proper installation and activation.
  • Conduct quality and safety assessments on new equipment following established protocols.
  • Create work instructions and training materials for operational staff.
  • Provide training and supervision to operators during the launch of new production systems.
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies to enhance production lines until key performance indicators are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and Maintenance teams to transfer knowledge related to production line support.
  • Document the design and implementation processes of production lines.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept tests through coding, tool design, and control system development.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Creo for production system design.
  • Perform line balancing, time studies, and layout optimization.
Qualifications
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and capable of executing high-level directives with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools for machinery assembly and repair.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ProEngineer, CATIA, or CREO is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, Visual Basic, Python, Java, JavaScript, or PLC Programming is highly desirable.
Education
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.
