Principal Engineer for Product Innovation

Position Overview:

At Raytheon Technologies, our mission is to empower our nation and allies through advanced engineering and technology solutions. We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our Texas Materials and Process department, serving as the primary liaison for all aspects of Process and Product Development for various production programs and developmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will collaborate closely with process engineering and other engineering disciplines to develop microelectronics for state-of-the-art military and defense applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the assembly process from initial kit to final shipment.
  • Engaging in the entire program lifecycle, from inception to contract completion.
  • Utilizing statistical process control techniques and experimental designs to diagnose and resolve systemic production and design challenges.
  • Implementing process enhancements to reduce costs and improve yield.
  • Evaluating materials, equipment, and processes, including qualification and acceptance testing.
  • Interfacing with various functions such as Quality, Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing, and Operations.

Learning Opportunities:

This position offers the chance to gain hands-on experience with assembly processes and equipment, as well as:

  • Understanding Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Creating assembly instructions and translating technical data into manufacturing packages.
  • Analyzing product quality and process controls.
  • Evaluating non-conforming hardware and qualifying products to military standards.

Qualifications Required:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • The ability to work in a clean room environment.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Microelectronic and circuit card assembly, including surface mount technology (SMT).
  • Environmental stress and screening methodologies.
  • Statistical data analysis and running designed experiments (DOEs).
  • Problem-solving methodologies related to root cause and corrective action.
  • Documentation and analysis of engineering drawings, with proficiency in CAD software.
