Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician 2 plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety at Baylor Scott White Health. This position is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, processing, organizing, and distributing patient equipment, instruments, supplies, and products used in the care and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare rooms and organize instruments, equipment, treatment trays, and supplies for specified departments.
  • Clean and decontaminate instruments, containers, and patient equipment using detergents and disinfectant solutions under regulatory standards and internal policies and procedures.
  • Operate semi-automatic and automatic sterilization equipment and washers.
  • Inventories, orders, replenishes, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment, and medical supplies for general supplies and surgical carts.
  • Maintain and control inventory. Maintain applicable records and files.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, manufacturer, and infection control practices.
  • Participate in providing in-service training.
  • Serve as a resource and help in training and mentoring level 1 Sterile Processing staff.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of equipment and instrument sterilization methods and procedures required.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Relational and communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to comply with safety, environmental, manufacturer, and infection control practices.
