Position Overview

PACCAR is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team. This role will be instrumental in collaborating with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to explore, design, and execute innovative manufacturing techniques, tools, and processes to support emerging business initiatives.

Division Overview

Dynacraft, a subsidiary of PACCAR, is based in McKinney, TX, and serves as a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR's medium and heavy-duty truck components. For over four decades, Dynacraft has supplied high-quality parts and specialized services to PACCAR's truck manufacturing divisions and service parts division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with New Business Development teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of new product requirements.
  • Investigate and analyze manufacturing methodologies.
  • Design efficient layouts and tool allocations to optimize workflow and material handling.
  • Evaluate engineering designs for manufacturability and suggest necessary modifications.
  • Maintain effective communication with plant management regarding project developments.
  • Support initiatives related to Industry 4.0 and associated technologies.
  • Research potential vendors, assess product offerings, and propose sourcing strategies.
  • Draft RFQs, RFPs, and Design Build Agreements (DBAs).
  • Issue purchase orders and track vendor performance concerning quality and delivery timelines.
  • Oversee the receipt and inspection of equipment, ensuring proper installation and activation.
  • Conduct quality and safety evaluations on new equipment in accordance with PACCAR standards.
  • Create work instructions and training materials for operational staff.
  • Guide and mentor operators during the launch of new production systems.
  • Utilize continuous improvement strategies to enhance new production lines until key performance indicators are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and Maintenance Personnel to transfer knowledge related to production line support.
  • Document the design and implementation processes of production lines.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept tests through sample coding and tool design.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Creo for production system design.
  • Perform line balancing, time studies, and layout assessments.
Qualifications
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and make independent decisions under pressure.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of executing high-level directives with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools for machinery assembly and repair.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ProEngineer, CATIA, or CREO is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, Visual Basic, Python, Java, JavaScript, or PLC Programming is highly desirable.
Education Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.
