Position Overview:

Maverick Power is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is centered around the innovative design of custom switchboards and switchgear at our facility.

The successful candidate will be tasked with the creation of detailed drawings, development of bills of materials, and exploration of alternative components. Emphasis will be placed on employing 'design for manufacturing' principles to streamline system complexity and enhance production efficiency. The position involves designing modular components aimed at reducing manufacturing costs and expediting fabrication timelines. You will engage in diverse projects that necessitate a comprehensive understanding of applications across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and safety domains, ensuring a stimulating and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate project proposals and leverage power distribution expertise to formulate effective solutions.
  • Create mechanical designs for switchboards and switchgear using advanced CAD software.
  • Develop three-dimensional models of switchboards.
  • Compile bills of materials and adapt standard assemblies to meet specific project needs.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams and production staff to devise practical solutions.
  • Interpret customer-provided drawings, electrical diagrams, and specifications.
  • Assist with additional job-related tasks as required.
  • Support manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and field service teams to ensure the successful implementation of designs.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks modeling software.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in designing and modeling components based on basic conceptual information.
  • Effective communication with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Familiarity with UL 891, UL 508A, IEEE/ANSI, and NEC/NFPA 70E standards.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of low voltage switchboard and switchgear design, installation, and usage.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations regarding low voltage switchgear.
  • Ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams including front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Commitment to comply with all company policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Work Environment:

This role may involve working in various settings within the Maverick Power facilities, including offices and production areas. The position requires maintaining a consistent posture while performing tasks and sitting for extended periods.
