Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in aligning organizational objectives with employee and management needs within designated program areas. This position acts as a strategic partner to management on various human resource matters, proactively assessing and addressing HR-related requirements. The HR Generalist is tasked with delivering value-added services that align with the organization’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR consultation to management, offering guidance on employee relations and HR practices.
  • Address and resolve employee relations challenges effectively.
  • Stay informed about legal standards affecting employee management to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
  • Offer performance management support to line management, including coaching and career development.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to enhance workplace relationships, morale, and retention.
  • Interpret and provide guidance on HR policies.
  • Assist in organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning in collaboration with the Director of HR.
  • Identify training needs for teams and individual coaching requirements.
  • Develop and deliver HR training programs.
  • Utilize the ADP system for personnel changes and HR reporting.
  • Support benefits administration and communicate benefits information to staff.
  • Work with program managers to oversee the leave management process.
  • Conduct sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees for open positions.
  • Travel may be necessary based on client requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of HR.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent listening abilities.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of various HR disciplines, including benefits, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Experience in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations, including individuals identifying as LGBTQIA* and those with disabilities.
