Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Excellence and Patient Care:


Assist healthcare providers and clinical staff in gathering essential vital information, preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.

Demonstrate proficiency in the clinical skills required to fulfill assigned duties.

May be responsible for drawing and collecting blood and other samples from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.

Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccines.


Maintain a tracking system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to ensure regular monitoring of patients' health status.

Schedule referrals for patients to specialists or outpatient services as directed by the provider. Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including appropriate coding.

Provide accurate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record, adhering to standardized workflows and processes.

Patient Education and Development:

Address inquiries and provide education to patients and their families.


Thoroughly understand testing values and their implications for patient status, taking appropriate actions within your scope of practice.


Stay informed about developments in the clinic/department and the organization by attending meetings, reading communications, and regularly checking the organization's intranet.

Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management guidelines.


Maintain adherence to all policies and procedures, including Compliance, HIPAA, and workplace regulations.

Act consistently with all Compliance and HIPAA policies and procedures.

Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

Demonstrate initiative to enhance quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations.


Balance team and individual responsibilities; remain open to others' perspectives; provide and welcome feedback; contribute to team objectives; and prioritize the success of the team over personal interests.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Administrator to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the office.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • High school diploma required if work is performed in a moderately complex CLIA lab.

Experience:

  • Previous clinical experience in a medical office is preferred.
  • Experience with computer data entry.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA, NCCT, RMA, or NHA certification.
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification.
  • Valid driver's license for work-related driving.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Customer/patient-focused.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
