Core Responsibilities:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, ensuring adherence to the organization's ethical standards and compliance protocols.

The CMA is a versatile professional, undertaking a variety of clinical and administrative tasks within the medical office environment. Under the guidance of a physician or licensed nurse, the CMA delivers both direct and indirect patient care, conducts laboratory tests, and may assist with administrative duties.

Key Duties Include:
- Presenting a welcoming and professional demeanor to patients and visitors.
- Providing accurate information and timely updates to patients, addressing inquiries or directing them to the appropriate resources.
- Utilizing effective problem-solving skills to resolve service issues.
- Collaborating with colleagues across departments to foster teamwork and communication.
- Efficiently managing work schedules and completing assignments punctually.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and cost-reduction efforts.
- Assisting in patient examinations and treatments, ensuring care is tailored to individual needs.

Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Preparing patients for procedures and assisting healthcare staff as needed.
- Administering medications and injections as prescribed.
- Performing point-of-care testing and other diagnostic procedures.
- Communicating test results and addressing patient inquiries regarding their health status.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Maintaining infection control standards and ensuring cleanliness in patient care areas.
- Participating in governance and departmental projects to enhance service delivery.
- Engaging in ongoing education to advance clinical skills and knowledge.

Technological Proficiency:
- Utilizing medical record and practice management systems effectively for documentation and order entry.
- Staying updated on system enhancements and integrating them into daily operations.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Completing other assigned duties as necessary.
