Support healthcare providers and clinical teams by gathering essential vital signs and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical interventions.

Accountable for maintaining a tracking system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to ensure continuous monitoring of patient health.

Schedule referrals for patients to specialists or outpatient services as directed by the healthcare provider. Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including appropriate CPT/ICD-10 coding. Address inquiries and provide education to patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care


Assist healthcare providers and clinical staff in obtaining vital signs and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.

Demonstrate proficiency in the clinical skills required to fulfill assigned responsibilities.

May be required to draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccines.

Responsible for maintaining a tracking system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to ensure continuous monitoring of patient health.

Schedule referrals for patients to specialists or outpatient services as directed by the healthcare provider. Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including appropriate CPT/ICD-10 coding.

Provide timely and accurate documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.

Development and Patient Education

Address inquiries and provide education to patients and their families.


Thoroughly understand testing (lab and procedures) values and their relationship to patient status, taking appropriate next steps as necessary within the scope of practice.


Stay informed about clinic/department and organizational updates by attending meetings, reading communications, and regularly checking the organization's intranet site.

Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management guidelines.


Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to Compliance, HIPAA, and workplace rules.

Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.

Demonstrate initiative to enhance quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations.


Balance team and individual responsibilities; remain open and receptive to others' viewpoints; provide and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team objectives; and prioritize the success of the team over personal interests.

Perform additional duties as requested by the Clinic Administrator to facilitate the efficient operation of the office.

Qualifications:

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

High school diploma required if work is performed in a moderately complex CLIA lab.

Experience:
Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.

Computer data entry experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):
Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA, NCCT, RMA, or NHA certification.

BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification.

Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Fluent in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English

Multicultural sensitivity

Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Critical thinking skills with the ability to use independent judgment in decision-making.
