Credentialing Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Medical Affairs Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the credentialing and recredentialing processes for physicians, affiliate staff, and allied health professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete credentialing process, ensuring compliance with Crouse Hospital policies and standards.
- Conduct thorough analysis and processing of applications, including verification of credentials and querying the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB).
- Maintain confidentiality throughout all credentialing activities and assist in training new staff or volunteers in accordance with regulatory standards set by the NYSDOH and JCAHO.
- Handle reference requests from other healthcare facilities, including MCOs and insurance companies.
- Assist in the verification of clinical privileges for medical staff.
Reporting Structure:
This position operates under the supervision of the Director for Medical Affairs, coordinating departmental activities in alignment with medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of two years of credentialing experience.
- Proficient in accreditation standards set by the Joint Commission and the National Committee on Quality Assurance.
- At least five years of experience with databases and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge of HTML is a plus.
- Two years of experience with credentialing software, preferably CACTUS.
Professional Skills:
- Accurate typing skills (60 words per minute) and proficiency in word processing.
- Professional demeanor and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask effectively and establish goals while working under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service. Previous administrative experience is preferred.
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $35.43/hour, based on verified education and experience.
Work Type:
Per Diem, with hours typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with additional shifts as assigned.
