Position Overview:
The Medical Affairs Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the credentialing and recredentialing processes for new physicians, affiliate staff, and allied health professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of Crouse Hospital's policies regarding provider credentialing and recredentialing.
- Conduct thorough analysis and processing of applications, ensuring all credentials are verified and maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform queries with the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) and assist in training new staff or volunteers in compliance with NYSDOH and JCAHO standards.
- Handle reference requests from other healthcare facilities, including MCOs and insurance companies.
- Verify medical staff clinical privileges as required.
Under the guidance of the Director for Medical Affairs, the coordinator is tasked with coordinating departmental activities in alignment with medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of credentialing experience.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes from the Joint Commission and the National Committee on Quality Assurance.
- At least five years of experience with proficiency in databases and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge of HTML is a plus.
- Preferred experience of two years with credentialing software, specifically CACTUS.

- Proficient typing skills (60 words per minute) and strong word processing capabilities.
- Professional demeanor and ability to project authority.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptability and strong multitasking abilities.
- Capacity to set goals and perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
- Previous administrative experience is advantageous.
Compensation:
Hourly rate is $35.43, based on verified education and experience.
