Job Overview Position Summary:

Praxair, Inc - a Linde Company is looking for a Senior Pressure Systems Specialist to deliver program support and expert technical advice to our gas processing facilities. This role involves collaboration with the Mechanical Integrity team, Reliability Engineers, plant staff, and project management teams to facilitate fixed equipment assessments, repairs, and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer engineering expertise for fixed equipment operations across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the Mechanical Integrity team to evaluate inspection results, formulate repair strategies, and identify root causes to prevent recurring issues.
  • Stay informed on relevant industry regulations to ensure compliance across all facilities. Update internal standards and procedures as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance to facilities to address gaps in Pressure Systems Information (PSI) and management systems, including performing engineering calculations and liaising with technical resources for necessary documentation.
  • Conduct calculations for Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) fatigue assessments, reformer tube creep, and torque specifications for specialized flanges.
  • Support fixed equipment enhancements by overseeing minor capital projects and/or offering technical guidance to Project Managers.
  • Review PSV testing reports and suggest interval modifications based on findings.
  • Assist during fixed equipment Mechanical Integrity inspections and the execution of corrective actions as required.
  • Identify chronic issues with fixed equipment and develop strategies for resolution.
  • Lead or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts for fixed equipment failures.

This role involves a mix of office and fieldwork, typically requiring some travel.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, along with over 10 years of experience as a technical resource for fixed equipment in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated environment.
  • Certifications such as API 510 and 570 are advantageous.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. The candidate should be a self-motivated individual capable of working independently and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, drive issues to resolution, and achieve results.
  • Knowledge of the multi-disciplinary aspects of corrosion and materials selection.
  • Familiarity with various engineering materials, including metals and non-metals.
  • Experience with common Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and applications.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (Section VIII), Piping Codes (B31.3), API 510, API 570, API 653, etc.
  • Experience with industrial metallurgical coating systems and corrosion prevention techniques, including cathodic protection and insulation.
  • Familiarity with reformer and refractory-lined equipment is a plus.
  • Experience in or supporting OSHA PSM-regulated facilities or processes, with an understanding of how mechanical integrity program elements apply to fixed equipment.
