Job Overview:


The Engine Testing Specialist will collaborate with a team of skilled technicians to install, equip with testing instruments, fill industrial engines with necessary fluids, conduct test runs, document relevant data, and decommission engines upon completion. Testing will be performed with the engine mounted on a water brake dynamometer test cell.

The technician will ensure the testing environment is maintained, instrument the engine for various measurements, uphold calibration of testing equipment, and guarantee the quality of the data collected.

Responsibilities will include installing new test articles on engines and confirming the proper operation of both the engine and test cell. Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues within the test cell and engine systems will also be a key part of the role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In the role of Senior Mechanic, you will:
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures in conducting business-related tasks.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards and compliance policies.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean working environment.
  • Demonstrate mechanical proficiency with an Oil & Gas background and utilize a variety of mechanical tools and testing equipment.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments prior to performing operations and material movements using cranes and lift trucks.
  • Complete all necessary training and documentation as required.
  • Ensure all facility equipment and tools are accounted for and operating efficiently.
  • Identify and report any issues or hazardous conditions during equipment handling and testing.
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, working collaboratively with team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Accurately complete documentation for routers, inspection reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical testing and assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Capable of performing physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending.
  • Ability to work in various environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for complex assembly tasks.
  • Possess or obtain a forklift operator license and certification for overhead crane operation.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Operate pneumatic and hydraulic tools effectively.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in all work areas.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Extensive experience in operations or service center applications.
  • Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor systems.
  • Ability to work independently and inspect own work for quality.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Experience in setting up and running test operations according to specifications.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
