Position Overview
We are in search of a Sonography Specialist II to ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient care to all patients.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Under limited supervision and with the guidance of the Radiologist, the Sonography Specialist performs sonography procedures, including routine and interventional sonograms such as biopsies.


Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to established guidelines in the policies and procedure manual and comply with all safety and infection control protocols.
- Operate in accordance with JCAHO, State, or other regulatory or accreditation agencies while performing duties.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or School of Sonography.
- Completion of a two-year program or a four-year BA program in Radiology Technology followed by training in sonography or meeting all clinical requirements from an accredited school in sonography.
- Current registration/licensure/certification in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must be registered in vascular and at least two of the following areas: OB/Gyn, Abdomen, or Breast.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- As the department becomes ACR accredited, specific certifications such as breast sonography may be required.
- Minimum of one year of hospital department experience in medical sonography, including biopsies.
- Ability to accurately complete sonography examinations as ordered by referring physicians.
- Proficient with radiology information systems to obtain previous examination reports.
- Capable of safely operating sonographic equipment and performing invasive procedures following the orientation period to the department.
- Routine use of office equipment (phone, fax, pagers).
- Effective communication skills with patients, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations while performing required sonographic duties.
