About the Role

The County of Ventura is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Deputy Director - Human Services Agency. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality human services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Human Services Agency, overseeing the development and implementation of policies, programs, and services that promote the well-being of individuals and families.
  • Manage and supervise a team of professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve program outcomes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and other agencies to promote collaboration and coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and emerging trends in human services, applying this knowledge to inform policy and program development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible managerial and leadership experience, preferably in human/social services entities.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of leadership, public administration, and strategic management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Behavioral Health, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience leading employees through complex system change, including the titles, sizes, and functions of staff.
  • Ability to assess organizational cultures, build upon positive attributes, and foster enhancements that empower staff to do their best work.
