Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Production Specialist is accountable for overseeing the operation of injection molding machinery and executing necessary tasks to prepare components for client utilization. Responsibilities may encompass a variety of activities, including the handling and packaging of parts, trimming excess material, operating secondary assembly equipment, removing parts from runners, completing production documentation and labels, and assembling additional components to the molded items. This role also involves auditing product and process performance while ensuring a safe and tidy work environment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervising the operation of injection molding machinery.
  2. Preparing parts for subsequent steps in secondary operations as per standard work instructions (SWI).
  3. Ensuring parts meet specified quality standards. Operators will receive training on general molding criteria and specific part criteria as outlined in the SWI, with assessments conducted by the Production Team Leader.
  4. Packaging parts while maintaining proper identification and acceptance criteria. Operators will be trained on the necessary criteria according to the SWI.
  5. Completing required production forms and labels.
  6. Entering production and scrap data into the Plex system. Operators will receive training on Plex input during onboarding and general training.
  7. Filling out daily forms and submitting them to the Shift Supervisor.
  8. Performing other tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  3. Ability to stand for extended periods.
  4. No prior experience as a production operator is necessary; training will be provided.
  5. Effective communication skills with fellow operators, support staff, and the Shift Supervisor.
  6. Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess whether parts meet quality standards.
  7. Ability to accurately complete forms and labels. Operators will be trained on company standard processes, with assessments conducted by the Production Team Leader/Supervisor.

COMPETENCY:

  1. Minimum Peg test score of 6 in the assembly portion is required.
  2. Minimum score of 70% on the Quality Parts Test and the Final Test during orientation is required.
  3. Basic computer skills are beneficial but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for navigating Plex.
  4. Capability to print labels and affix them correctly to containers; on-the-job training will be provided.
  5. Ability to trim parts with a swivel knife and de-gate parts with gate cutters; on-the-job training will be provided.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Manufacturing Production Specialist reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.
